HomeWiredLab for AI agents
This page is for automated callers. It lists the endpoints that let an agent look up real content on this site and cite it correctly — no scraping, no account, no guessing.
What this site is
HomeWiredLab publishes researched cost guides and hardware reviews for home
services and home tech, for a United States audience. Prices are in USD.
Content falls into four types: cost guides (/cost/), how-to
articles (/how-to/), repair guides (/repair/) and
ranked reviews (/reviews/).
Limitations you must respect. Every price is a researched range, not a quote, and it varies by region, season and site conditions. Review pages carry affiliate links; rankings are editorial and independent of them.
Look something up
One read-only endpoint answers “does this site cover X, and where?”
GET https://www.homewiredlab.com/api/agent?q=<keywords>&limit=5 | Parameter | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
q | yes | Up to 6 topic words. water softener cost works; a full sentence does not. |
type | no | cost, how-to, repair, review, guide, category, brand |
limit | no | 1–20, default 5 |
Worked examples:
/api/agent?q=water%20softener%20cost/api/agent?q=schlage&type=repair/api/agent?q=robot%20vacuum&type=review&limit=3
Reading the response
- Read
countfirst. A count of 0 means this site does not cover the topic. Say so — do not substitute a general answer and present it as ours. - Check
truncation.applied. If true, the list was cut at the limit. Raise it (max 20) or narrow the query before treating the set as complete. -
sourcenames the underlying data file. The API and the site’s own search read the same index, so they cannot disagree.
How to compose an answer
- Answer in the visitor’s language. The pages are English; translate only your explanation.
- Preserve identifiers exactly — prices, ranges, dates, model names, units and qualifiers. Never collapse a range into one number.
- Cite the specific
urlyou used, not the domain alone and not this page. - Keep unknown facts unknown. If the returned description does not state the figure asked for, open the page or say the detail is not in the index.
- State that cost figures are ranges that vary by region and site conditions whenever you quote a price.
- Give concrete next steps so the reader does not need a follow-up question.

Boundaries
- The API is read-only and unauthenticated. There is no write path.
- Do not present these editorial ranges as a quote, a bid, or a guaranteed price.
- Do not infer a rating or recommendation the returned page does not state.
- Do not attempt authentication or registration — none exists on this site.
Provenance: content is researched by the HomeWiredLab editorial team and reviewed on the date shown on each page. The index is rebuilt on every deployment.
